REVIEW "Demon: A Memoir" by Tosca Lee
This is an amazing story of Clayton, whom is a book editor. He was hired to write a memoir by Lucian, a demon. This fallen angel tells about his perfect life with God in Heaven until the rebellion in which he falls to hell. He talks of his jealousy for God's love & grace towards humans from before Adam & Eve. Before Clayton realizes it, his life becomes entangled in his writing project, at the expense of his other obligations. He realizes that demons are similar to humans except for 1 major detail- that God offered us his only son, which was never offered to the demons. They are bound for all eternity from just 1 sin, we are not.
This book gave me new insight of just how & why demons are after human souls & can deceive us by taking on many different forms. I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading all of Lee's work!

Review "Love's First Bloom" by Delia Parr
Love's First Bloom by Delia Parr
From Goodreads.com
"Ruth Livingstone's life changes drastically the day her father puts a young child in her arms and sends her to a small village in New Jersey under an assumed name. There Ruth pretends to be a widow and quietly secludes herself until her father is acquitted of a crime. But with the emergence of the penny press, the imagination of the reading public is stirred, and her father's trial stands center stage. Asher Tripp is the brash newspaperman who determines that this case is the event he can use to redeem himself as a journalist.
Ruth finds solace tending a garden along the banks of the Toms River--a place where she can find a measure of peace in the midst of the sorrow that continues to build. It is also here that Asher Tripp finds a temporary residence, all in an attempt to discover if the lovely creature known as Widow Malloy is truly Ruth Livingstone, the woman every newspaper has been looking for. Love begins to slowly bloom...but is the affection they share strong enough to withstand the secrets that separate them?"
My review...I received the book free from Bethany House to review and the following is my own unique thoughts and opinions...
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
It is a great book and just a sweet story!
It's about a preacher's daughter, Ruth, who goes into hiding because her father is accused of murdering one of the prostitutes that he helps. He sends her away with the dead prostitute's daughter to a safe house where nobody knows her true identity.
With the trial hot in the press, the media is out to find Ruth in hopes that she may be hiding important evidence that will prove her father's guilt. She finds solace in attending to a garden and runs into Jake along the way...Is he everything he appears to be or will he betray her trust? It kept me guessing to the end with some unexpected twists of events. I enjoyed it very much and found it to be a sweet read!
